This last week has been a little hard because Presley has been sick. It's bad enough when she's sick, but just add Wade & I into that equation and it equals disaster. Obviously Presley's health is priority over ours. Wade and I were both ill, but we were both up pulling all nighters with her to make sure that her fever was tamed, that she was comfortable (even if that meant holding her on my chest all night), and making sure she was breathing okay. Having a sick baby is a little scary but you mostly feel sad because they can't tell you what hurts or what they need. This is when your instincts as a parent really have to kick into full gear. I'm not a fan of over the counter medicines because you just don't really know what's in them. Let alone you can't even pronounce the ingredients. So how am I as a parent supposed to feel comfortable giving my baby something I don't know much about? I started to educate myself on homeopathic medicine and felt comfortable trying it.
We just bought a humidifier with a medicine tray attached to it. We put it into Presley's room since she has a harder time sleeping while being sick. In the medicine tray I put 100% natural Rosemary oil. The scent from the Rosemary is gentle enough but yet strong enough to open the airways that is blocked by all the mucus. I read that rosemary is best for babies due to it's gentle scent. For adults I read that you can use eucalyptus oil. Of course before trying any of these always make sure with your doctor & pediatrician. Ever since I've used this, Presley has slept through the night again and waking up a happy baby. Nothing makes me feel better than to see her feeling better :)
