Kinley first Beach Day

We were staying in a beach house in Long Beach for the weekend for a little family weekend getaway and were able to enjoy some wonderful beach weather! We know how much Presley loves being in the sand and the water and we were pretty excited to take Kinley out there for her first time. Obviously she is still very young so no playing in the sand or water for her just yet, but soon she will get her chance. So for now mommy will just have a mini photo shoot :)

Words and Sentences..Oh my!

I want to write down some of my favorite "Presley sayings." She has always been a talker from an early age, but now she is forming sentences and some of the things that she says are priceless!

September 26,2010- We were staying at a beach house and we were on the roof top watching the boats pass by and she said "hi boats, I'm Presley (as she pointed to herself)."

Now that she can say her name very well she always let's us know what's hers. For example the other day she was getting dressed and she would say "Tis is Pwesleys dwess." or "Tis is Pwesleys toys."

One day as I was brushing my teeth I heard her in my room saying "ohhh my...oooo..ahhhh" and when I looked over and asked her what she was doing she said (while looking in the mirror) "Mommy, I pweety!" hahaha.

Her new five favorite words lately are "no, no, no,no, no" while waving her index finger in the air. (She got it from the Disney movie Tarzan).

She calls pumpkins "Halloweens"

She calls Kinley "Kee-Kins"

Every time you ask her "what do you say?" when she asks for something she responds with "what do you say" hahah we are still working on the appropriate response of "please" but for now it's cute so we laugh.

Who needs a boy when you have a Presley!

Even though Wade didn't get a son he definitely got a girl who doesn't mind getting down and dirty in the mud. As Presley is getting older we're starting to see and get to know more of her personality (and boy does she have a HUGE personality!). She has a wonderful balance of both worlds. She loves to paint her nails, where dresses, look at shoes with mommy, and of course she never leaves the house with the perfect accessory. But with equal love she's a girl who plays soccer, hangs with the boys, throws a ball around, collects insects (gross!), and last but certainly not least does dare-devilish things that gives mommy heart attacks. It's most likely that Presley will be the first to break something or get stitches, but I'm also pretty sure that she will be dressed to impress while doing it.

Making sure her dolls hair is brushed.

Hard work will pay off

It seems like the only time I get a chance to write is in the early am (like it's still dark outside am). With Kinley growing a little bigger each day, she's awake for longer periods of time trying to absorb all her new surroundings. I especially love how she tries to follow me with her eyes when she hears my voice in the room. She sleeps fairly well but the only sleeping issue we have is that she loves to lay on her belly. I could definitely use some advice on this matter. We don't have any soft bedding in her crib, she literally lays on her mattress and a tight fitted sheet. It freaks me out and I can't sleep more than a few minutes at a time because I'm constantly getting up to look at her. I've never had this issue with Presley (probably because she never slept) but I could use some advice.
Other than the belly issue, all is good here at the Jones residence. I'm trying to keep Presley on her regular nap schedule and sometimes it works out to my advantage because they will BOTH be taking naps at the same time. It can get a little crazy around here trying to get both girls on a schedule/routine and being sleep deprived makes it a little more challenging, but I always tell myself that this phase and it's temporary and all this hard work will pay off once they get a little older. Until then I'll enjoy these nice quite moments (when they rarely happen haha)....

Hiking Trip

With Disneyland passes needing to be renewed, we had to take up a new hobby that we can do together as a family. We decided that we would try hiking! To those who are thinking you went hiking with a newborn and a toddler, are you crazy?! All I have to say is no way! Presley is a very active two year old and really enjoys being outdoors playing and discovering things, so this hike was perfect to stimulate that very curious mind of hers. As for Kinley she is still very new so we carried her in the Baby Bjorn "front pack". She absolutely loves being in that thing because it reminds her of being in my belly, especially when I'm walking. Presley walked the whole way uphill to the waterfall and Kinley slept the whole time. It was a good 2 mile hike and Presley did the whole thing without a fuss.

I on the other hand, seeing I just gave birth 3 weeks ago was very tired! When we got through with the hike I looked over and Wade in complete exhaustion. I felt so out of shape but man did it feel good to sweat again. It just motivated me more to really start my working out routine and getting back in shape.

It was a fun day and a new experience for all of us. We will definitely do it again because the ending result was Presley sleeping for 3 hours during her nap time. hehe. Oh and this time I won't fall on slippery wet rocks when crossing a stream. Now Presley’s new favorite sentence is “We walk and mommy fall and got all wet.”

Mommy love

These were the first pictures I took with Kinley. This is right before they admitted her into the NICU and fortunately Presley made it right in time to meet her. With Kinley being here now, and having both my girls here I feel so complete. We are so lucky to have beautiful healthy girls.

The "Popper"

Presley found a "popper" (aka grass-hopper) and insisted that I catch it. I grabbed a glass jar and very bravely caught that darn thing for her.

She loved her new friend "popper"

Then she showed me the picture she drew of the "popper".

No insects were harmed during this time.."popper" was let free once it was time to go back in the house :)

Daddyhood

This is a little taste of what he's about to experience with having two daughters.

On a positive side note, Kinley's hearing was not affected by her sisters screaming.
