Making a Smile

As a mother, I believe protecting my children is priority. I would go to any lengths to make sure of their safety. I would fight for my children. I would go up against anything to protect them. I would give my life for them. It's my duty to raise them with compassion, loyalty, intelligence, and love for not only themselves but for people around them.

Presley is now three years old, and on this day, I had to let her in on a little passion of mine. It's something that touches very deep into my heart. Some of you may think she's a little young, or that she may not understand the concept, and for that; you're entitled to your own opinion. I will expose both my children to the great things life has to offer; but also show them things that are hard to see and why things happen that can never be explained.
As I told her in "toddler language" about children who are very sick, I used words such as "pokies", "boo-boo's", "sad"(you get the point) to explain how there are children out there who are very ill and need someone to pray for them, or someone to help bring a smile to their face, and who need our help to help them. I wasn't sure if her little spongy mind was processing this, so I asked her to help me make cards for these sick kids because if they are sad, maybe reading this card will make them smile even for just a second.

As we sat making cards, it was silent. If you know Presley, you would know the only time she is silent is when she's sleeping but this silence was different, almost like she was thinking. As she was hand printing all the cards she looked up at me and said...

"Mommy, I make cards for kids who get lots of pokies and who are sad?"
I said... "yes baby that's who you are making these cards for"
then as another silence period occurred she then said "I make them happy mom, I no want them to be sad."

At that moment...I knew my job as a mother to teach her compassion is on the right track. Proud mom over here!!!

LA Zoo

Today me and the girls had play date at the Zoo with a friend of mine who also has two little girls. The weather was hot, but with some sun screen on hand and a few stops at the water misters, we made it! I was a little nervous because our two oldest girls had to walk because both double strollers wouldn't fit into my truck and all we could take were both umbrella strollers for the babies. I was very pleased on how well they both did. They both walked the whole Zoo and I think towards the end when we were already heading out, they both said they were tired and ready to go home. It was a great day with great friends :)

Oh just a couple of giraffe's behind us...no biggie!

I spy an Ostrich...

There are those Giraffe's again...

Princess Mickey Hat

I remember being at Disneyland when Presley was little and really wanting to get her a hat with her name stitched into the back of it, but when I went to put it on she wanted nothing to do with anything on her head. I decided to wait and get her one when she was ready and excited to be wearing one. Well the day had come! My dad and family came to visit from Nevada and we all went to Disneyland and Presley was in love with my little sisters hat, that she also wanted one. As a little birthday present they bought her one and well to say the least she's so loving it! Of course she looks extra cute wearing it :)

Kinley 10 months

Let's see little miss Kinely, this month your personality is really starting to show. It took you a little longer to come out of your shell, but your just as goofy and outgoing like your sister. You want to walk so bad that you are now walking with your little walking toys; sometimes you will stand on your own until you realize you are standing on your own and sit back down. I must say that you have a bit of a temper when you don't get your way these days. We are trying to teach you not to scratch or pull hair lately but I'm sure we can get it under wraps before you start your play dates! I want these last two months to go slowly, they have truly gone so fast and I can't believe your going to be 1. Life really does fly by and so short and I really want you and your sister to live life to the fullest and love it. Love you.

By the way you were totally into holding this football. It was cute.

"The Calm Before the Storm"

Two days after her 3rd birthday Presley had her 3 year physical. I didn't realize until this day how much easier it is to get through physicals when they are younger. When they are young they don't really know what the heck is going on. Whenever we walk into the doctors office, she has her usual routine. She comes in, says hello to any kid that may be in there and goes straight to Nurse-we will call her stickers; so "nurse stickers" is her name. Presley loves "nurse stickers" because hence the name "stickers" she has drawer full of different stickers. "Nurse Stickers" loves Presley (who doesn't right??) and always lets her play at her desk and draw pictures until it's her turn to be seen. Well on this day "nurse stickers" refused to be the one giving Presley the shot(s)!!!! So she gave the dirty job to the new nurse. She didn't want to damage her relationship with Presley. Rightfully so.

Doctor does his routine...they take her weight, height, and had her do an eye exam??hmmm I thought to myself she may be a little young for it because she may know the ABC song but I'm pretty sure she can't identify a letter. I told the "new nurse" and she changed the letters to pictures....your first initial reaction would be "okay she can identify pictures, this will work" until they show you the pictures...I could barely identify the house that looked like a barn or the train that looked like a semi-truck. At that point Presley just started pulling words out of her ass...New nurse would say "Presley what's this picture of?" (As she pointed to a house) and Presley replied with "oh, that's a box"..hmmm...okay nurse tries again "Presley what's this picture of?" (As she points to what looks like a cow)..Presley-"Oh, that's a horse". I honestly thought it was a horse too, but the nurse said no that's a cow. So we obviously failed that test!-okay great at least that's over with now, what's next???

We go into our private room and the new nurse puts head phones on Presley and gives her a hearing test...she says to Presley "Now Presley, when you hear a beeeeeeeep you need to say banana." Presley looked at me like oh great it's time for a snack! so she says "yes please, I want a banana" to the nurse. Nurse says "No, no..when u hear the beeeeeeeep say banana"....I'm sitting there thinking are you serious lady??? she just turned 3 two days ago at least give her half a year to really get settled into being 3! this went on for a few minutes until the new nurse finally got it through her head that it wasn't going to happen. So 2ND test of the day-failed again! Great we are off to a wonderful start.....

Doctor comes in...Presley loves her doctor..they always have these weird little inside jokes...I feel a little left out at times...almost to the point where they could very much possibly have their own secret handshake type of thing. Anyway, I'm glad she likes him because it makes doctor visit that much easier. He checks her out and yay the main important test her health and she passed with flying colors (knock on wood). That excitement didn't last very long because then Presley out of no where looked at me and said "mommy are we done? no pokes (aka shots) today, k" ummmmm I stayed silent and we stared at each other for a minute...I thought do I lie? and risk her never trusting me again? or do I tell her the truth and she will know I won't lie to her?...crap....then word vomit happened.. "Yes Presley you have to have three pokes today"....okay seriously just the yes would of been enough, but leave it to me to add the number 3!!! what the hell is wrong with me?! She went hysterical...I tried to smooth it over by telling her that before she was allowed to go to her new school she had to get these "pokes"...she didn't care....then I told her "Presley you can sit on my lap why the nurse does it so it's not so scary" and surprisingly she said "okay, I sit on mommy's lap for pokes." I thought okay maybe this won't be do bad...so New nurse comes in and says "okay we need to give her these three so please lay her on the table and hold her arms down"....When she said that I thought WELL SHIT BALLS are you kidding me?!..so I asked if we could do it with her sitting on my lap..and she said "no".....SHIT BALLS AGAIN! I look at Presley and try to explain why she can't sit on my lap for the pokes....I should of just told her what an asshole I was for assuming and giving false hope to her...She was not happy. I had to hold her down and I think that was more worse than the shots...Presley doesn't like being pushed down like that and it freaked her out..I wanted to cry but since my face was directly in hers I couldn't...She wouldn't understand why I would be crying..she would actually probably being asking herself "why the hell are you crying? You're not the one getting the "pokes" you big cry baby!".....so I didn't cry i just kissed her so much...which was probably even more annoying...kind of like when you stub your toe on a corner of something..the last thing you want is anyone to talk let alone look at you....anyway the "pokes" were done and Presley is a champ at milking her "ouchies" all day. I gave in and let her get her way that day.. that's the least I could do since I gave her false hope, and restrained her.

It's a Grandfathers Love

Growing up my dad was pretty much absent from our life so watching my girls grow up with their dad is so special to me. They will be able to have a dad and daughter relationship. I look forward to see what it truly means to have that through Presley and Kinley. Wade is an amazing father to his girls but obviously he wasn't just born knowing how to love...you can see by this picture how Wade's dad, who I'm also proud to call my father in law; loves all his grandkids. I just love this picture. One day when Kinley is older she will look at this picture and will remember her relationship with her "papa". I believe they will be surrounded with such positive male influences that maybe one day they will seek characteristic traits that are happy and loving. I've always wanted to have a dad that could of been there for me growing up or to have a close relationship with a grandfather(he passed when I was young) but that's the past and didn't happen for me or my sisters; but I was very very lucky to meet a man who is truly good to me and most importantly good to his girls. Also so grateful that they have a grandfather in their life who loves them and who will be at every sports game, graduation, college graduation and maybe even their wedding day. They are so lucky to have the Jones men in their life.

Day with my brand new 3 year old!

What a fantastic day it was! From the day I found out we were having a girl, I've always thought about the day I could do the fun "girl" activities with her such as getting our nails done, going shopping, getting our hair done, etc. We only did one of those things because first of all this girl hates shopping;I hope it's just a phase she will grow out of ;) and second I can't yet emotionally handle cutting her hair. I know it sounds crazy but the thought of her baby hair being cut makes me sad. I'm going to hold off on it for as long as she's cool with it. With that all said I had the pleasure of taking her to get her nails done! I was a little nervous on how she may react to a stranger doing her nails or having to sit still for the drying nail period but to say the least-she's a natural! She loved it!

This is the both of us leaving for our day together.

She doesn't seem very happy about this......;)

Lady painting her nails...

Showing off her newly polished toes!!

getting a mani and pedi can work up an appetite, so we decided to get lunch.

After lunch we got to play at the park until our movie started. We got to see Kung Fu panda and well I think it was a little much for her because she was very upset about the mommy panda abandoning her baby..she went hysterical whens he saw it. That was my hint to leave. We didn't get to see the last 5 minutes..but it was a cute movie otherwise.

Presley's Birthday Party!

Presley's third birthday party was a blast! A lot of our family and friends came to celebrate this specail day. Presley truly has so many people who love her. Her auntie Ashley even flew out from Miami to be there. So special. Here are some pictures!
