It was a beautiful morning in Newport Beach, the crisp moist air gently touching our faces, people walking among their friends wearing their creative team shirts, and listening to families talk about a child they are walking in memory of or in honor of. There was definitely something special in the air and that is why I love doing that walk. You feel different, you watch peoples faces, some are happy and some seem sad. You sit and wonder the stories of the people who are there? You think who and why are they here? As I sit and people watch, I think to myself how fortunate I am to have given birth to a healthy little girl. Sometimes I feel guilty being there because I haven't experienced a loss or been a parent to witness the scary moments of having your baby in the NI CU. Then I realize I'm here because I do care and feel for the parents and families that have gone through this. I'm here to support them in anyway I can. I do it from my heart because being a mother I couldn't imagine the pain that these parents have gone through. I walk to honor the mothers, fathers, children and families.
